“My Library is a lifelong experience which I continue to enjoy in retirement…“
“My Library is a lifelong experience which I continue to enjoy in retirement. Before the age of twelve, frustrated when I was unable to access a library on a regular basis, I saved up my earnings from picking berries and potatoes and raising rabbits and chickens and bought my first bicycle to make regular trips to a small library in rural PEI! At university, I worked part-time in the library to have greater access to books on the reserve list! While working in Haiti I helped set up school libraries and libraries for church leaders. The challenge I now face is reducing the size of my own collection and making even greater use of our community’s library to ensure that not a day goes by when I do not spend some time with ‘my head in a book’ !!!” — Allen Darby
